Creating a Relaxing Bohemian Bedroom

Dreamy Bohemian Bedroom via the boat people

Gasp.... that bedding
Beautiful bohemian Art Nouveau bedding, ethnic rugs, hammocks to read in, sheepskin on the floor, stars on the walls, houseplants, pillows and cushions... what more could a girl want when creating a relaxing bedroom?

I have started my first shift as an A&E nurse today (so excited and scared) and know the job is going to be tough so I have been obsessing about creating the perfect relaxing bedroom. Candles, incense, velvet cushions and a stunning vintage crotchet blanket have....

I am in the process of saving up for my first actual bed in 7 years.... the romantic notion of a mattress on the floor is wearing a little thin...

My 2 dogs, their quiet companionship and the feel of their soft fur, the way they watch me with their big malteser eyes, that's what relaxes me.

Very best wishes for your new job, I'm sure you will do well.

Love the room with the plethora of houseplants, what a beautiful idea.

Inspiring books on the bedside table, subtle light lamps, good linen and a ceiling fan (or any fan) for a nice breeze in spring. <- these are my necessities for the bedroom. I love the bohemian feel in a room, it should never be a room with everuthing in its place.

Beautiful! I love that starry wall especially. I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog! Such great inspiration.
I must say, one of the most comfortable beds I've had, was one I made myself, out of packing pallets that i tore apart, three bits of 2 by 4 wood the length of the mattress, and some strapping that was gun-stapled to the "slats" to keep them in place. :-) Very easy to pack up come moving time! And if I was in a small room and needed under-bed storage, I just assembled it up on bricks! With my foam mattress rolled up, I could fit the lot in my Austin 1300. Those were the days!

The indigo wall and the porch are so inspiring! It makes me realize that I do have a living space to create and energizes me to make it beautiful and comfortable and surprising and inspiring.

Thank you Gabi for creating this lovely space here :)

The bedroom in the porch is the room that I have been dreaming about for years. I would sleep in there every night...spring, summer and fall
(the winters are too cold here) I would look up at the starry sky and fall asleep to all the night sounds around me. Lovely. Now I just need to get a porch.

Love the first photo. I just moved into a new place and am still trying to figure out what to do with my bedroom. I have my bed on the floor, and beautiful sheer cream curtains, and an exposed brick wall with a working fireplace, and that's about all I've got going on right now. Other than a ton of bags that have yet to be unpacked. Thanks for the inspiration.

Importantly, a quality bed - your back will thank you for it :)

And... favourite sensual colours on the walls. Evocative, good quality incense and candles. Sumptuous fabrics, covering a big fat, stuffed doona to cuddle and snuggle deep into while reading some fabulous books or dream.
Lovely lantern lights creating a soft glow - no fluoros allowed here!
Old, lacy curtains on the windows and around the bed to shut the world away.
A sanctuary - a private space to come home to... to disappear into.

A bit of fantasy in a world of reality - bohemian bliss :)

Oh I love that starry wall. I imagine a room like that for a little child .. counting stars to fall asleep :)

The room we have now was a dream of mine, 14 ft ceilings, a chandelier over the bed, huge french windows overlooking a courtyard .. but I am dreaming now of a new bedroom in a new home back in North America :)

Best of luck on the job !

It's definitely hard to pick a favorite!I just moved into one of these Portofino at Mercer Crossing homes and I can't wait to see what I could do with home decoration.
